That’s Why It’s a Deadly Sin

We live in a world that thrives on being unique. I love that. (How unique are we really, though, since we are always picking up phrases and imitating expressions of those that are close to us?) I guess that’s another topic.

But anyhow we are not all the same – so we should probably stop trying to measure up to each other. There’s always going to be someone who is thinner, more beautiful, smarter or more successful than we are. And that’s okay.

Living in constant envy only distracts you from appreciating your own life, from being humble and confident, from being kind, from being happy. Focus instead on these things that matter and not so much on our perceptions of others ( I mean, really how accurate is Instagram?) And, at the end of the day ask yourself this: Are you most likely going to remember the most beautiful person who stopped you in your tracks or the one who showed you the most kindness?

Yes we all struggle with envy.

And I’m grateful that this post reminded me that kindness is the thing I will remember most not external superficial beauty.
